I am writing all of my research here, both short and long form, in different formats. I got tired of the way that blogs worked and am looking to somewhat extend my research efforts into more coalescent forms by connecting everything from my journals to my technical and extremism research.

<h2 id="why"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#why"></a>Why?</h2>
I've been blogging for a hot minute now, since about 2017 on <a href="https://medium.com/@theCTIguy">Medium</a> and various personal blogs. I don't hate blogging, I just don't know if it's the medium for the type of research I like to do. I always find myself saying "nah that's not ready for a blog" even though it's research or work that I'm proud of or that I want to collaborate with others on.
I learned about digital gardens a year or two ago when I started researching <a href="/01_RESEARCH/NONTECH/Digital%20Gardens" title="Digital Gardens">Digital Gardens</a> and <a href="/01_RESEARCH/NONTECH/Personal%20Knowledge%20Management%20(PKM)" title="Personal Knowledge Management (PKM)">Personal Knowledge Management (PKM)</a> using Notion and Obsidian. I really liked the <a href="/01_RESEARCH/NONTECH/Zettelkasten%20Method" title="Zettelkasten Method">Zettelkasten Method</a> and especially liked the possible approaches to iterative research and publishing.
I also like the way that Obsidian organizes your notes into a graph view to show relationships between topics and objects. I think that can be super valuable in building out a corpus of knowledge.
<h2 id="how"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#how"></a>How?</h2>
I'm going to try my best to organize this vault in a useful way. There are 5 core folders as of the time of writing:
00 ABOUT - This folder is a meta folder that will contain this home page and the MOC (Map of Content, basically the table of contents for the whole vault) 
01 RESEARCH - This folder will contain technical research (code, offsec/blue team research, etc), nontechnical research (philosophy, extremism, politics, etc) and the WIP page, which is where I'll put research that isn't quite done but is to a point where I'm okay with publishing it. 
02 JOURNAL - This folder is where my journals will go, random notes, daily journaling, etc. I'll publish some journals and keep some private for obvious reasons. 
03 DATA - This folder is where the data that I'll base my research on. This might be raw CSV data or, frequently, briefs on sources 
04 SOURCES - This folder will hold citations and archived sources for my research. 
05 PUBLICATIONS - This folder will be where I put some of my longer running research. I've got big plans for this folder.
